A message from
Camp fire heart
of oklahoma

Dear Camp Fire Family,

It is with a heavy heart that we share an important update about Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma. After 95 years of helping thousands of local children discover the joys of nature through programs like Camp DaKaNi, Camp CANOE, Outdoor School, and Camp Fire Girls, we have made the difficult decision to dissolve our nonprofit organization.

This decision was not made lightly. For nearly a century, Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma has been committed to fostering environments where young people could thrive, connect with nature, and build lasting friendships. Since 1956, a majority of these programs have taken place at our treasured Camp DaKaNi campgrounds. We have always prioritized inclusivity, environmental stewardship, and creating opportunities for all children to grow into leaders. Unfortunately, the financial challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic have made it impossible for us to sustain the level of programming and services that our campers, families, and supporters deserve.

Despite our best efforts to recover, we have not been able to restore funding or programming to the levels required to continue operations. As a result, we are no longer able to maintain our facilities or deliver the camp experiences that have brought joy and growth to so many.

We understand how disappointing this news will be, especially for our campers, alumni, and families who have fond childhood memories of participating in Camp Fire programs. We will forever be grateful for the memories shared, the lessons learned, and the support of our Oklahoma community.

We expect to announce exciting news regarding the Camp DaKaNi campgrounds in the coming months. In the meantime, the grounds will remain closed for 2025.

Thank you to every camper, family, donor, volunteer, and staff member who has been a part of this journey. We are humbled to have had the opportunity to serve the children of our community for so many years.

With gratitude,

Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma Board of Directors
