Camp Fire's Statement of Inclusion
Camp Fire believes in the dignity and the intrinsic worth of every human being. We welcome, affirm, and support young people and adults of all abilities and disabilities, experiences, races, ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, religion and non-religion, citizenship and immigration status, and any other category people use to define themselves or others. We strive to create safe and inclusive environments that celebrate diversity and foster positive relationships.
Connection is our core
Growing up is hard.
Camp Fire connects young people to the outdoors, to others, and to themselves.
We envision a world where all young people thrive and have equitable opportunities for:
Engagement with Nature
WE ARE INCLUSIVE.
We work to create safe and inclusive environments, so everyone feels welcome.
WE GET OUTSIDE.
We learn from and respect our planet. We conserve, protect, and steward our natural resources.
WE PRIORITIZE RELATIONSHIPS.
We develop supportive cross-generational relationships that guide young people to find their spark
WE PURSUE IMPACT.
We seek out the newest research, practice every-day innovation, and meticulously measure results - all to help young people thrive in a complex world.
WE ARE LEARNERS.
We help young people (and adults!) invest in the adventure of self-discovery.
WE TAKE ACTION.
We encourage young people to advocate, organize, and work for change in their communities and beyond.
WE ARE RESPONSIVE.
Each council has the autonomy to customize its programming to best support youth, families, and their communities.
WE HONOR THE POWER OF YOUNG PEOPLE
We believe one of the best ways to honor the power of young people is to share power with them.
CAMPS & outdoor EDUCATION
TEEN SERVICE & LEADERSHIP
Through resident and day camps, kids clubs, specialty camps like Camp CANOE and ROC, and other environmental education sessions throughout the year —
all are welcome, and there is something for everyone!
Between Teens in Action®, Counselor Aides in Training (CAT), and the WoHeLo Award, we not only activate teens within our community, but intentionally seek their valuable feedback in all that we do, both locally and nationally.
See why teachers, principals, and students can’t stop raving about our high-impact school programs that focus on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and other relevant lessons. It’s way more than tutoring and supervision!
Camp Fire has responded to challenges created by COVID-19 with several home-based programs that incorporate STEAM principles into outdoor adventures to safely deliver Camp Fire fun to your own backyard!
THE CAMP FIRE EXPERIENCE
James – Camp Fire Parent
My child calls me every day and asks me to pick him up as late as possible because he loves Camp Fire and all the fun activities so much.
Elizabeth H. – Teacher
The lessons Camp Fire presents empowers students to make decisions, accept responsibility, and build their own moral compass to live by.
Samantha, Virtual Camp Parent
Everyone had such a great attitude and were so fully engaged and fun. I think there really is something to be said about that “near peer” relationship.
